The Knights of Columbus Thank the St. Michael’s Community

We at the Cranford Knights of Columbus are blessed to have the tremendous support of the entire St. Michael’s family, and we we want to express our unending gratitude. That support was particularly evident on two recent occasions.

St. Patrick Céili

On Saturday March 8, the St. Michael’s School gym was the site for the annual Knights of Columbus St. Patrick’s Céili. The event included live music, Irish dancing, tricky tray and a 50/50 (the winner went home with $1,170!). And thanks to the generous leadership of Msgr. Shugrue, the efforts of Master of Ceremonies Rich Pierce and the event committee (Jim Byrnes, Pete Coats, Nino and Diane Fava, John McKeary, Tim and Maura McGovern and Darlene Pierce), the volunteerism of St. Michael’s School parents and confirmation candidates, and the donations of local businesses, the event raised $7,000 for Cranford Family Care, St Joseph Social Service Center and St. Michael’s seminarian Hermes Diaz Vargas.

The photo above shows members of the Cranford Knights of Columbus (left to right) Tom Hannen, John Doolan, James Winter, Cleo D’Cruz, Brian Egenton and Walter Krako present Kathy Willis of Cranford Family Care with a donation generated by the St Patrick’s Day celebration.

See you at the event next year!

Special Citizens Drive

And more recently, the St. Michael’s parish family helped make our special citizens drive on Palm Sunday weekend a resounding success. Thanks to the generosity of all of you and other Cranford-area residents, we raised $3,400 for Special Olympics New Jersey, the ARC of Union County, The Cerebral Palsy League and Research Down Syndrome. We appreciate Msgr. Shugrue allowing us to collect donations outside masses that weekend.
