EVERYONE HAS A VOCATION

Every one of us has a vocation because:

  • a vocation is a call from God to a life of committed love reflecting the love that God has for each of us.

Each one of us received that call to “a life of committed love reflecting God’s love for us” when we were conceived, and we responded to that call when we were baptized. If we were baptized as infants, most probably our parents assisted us in responding the God’s call and hopefully guided us in learning about God and God’s love for us and for others. That was our beginning of this life of “committed love reflecting the love that God has for each of us.” As we learned more about God and experienced God’s loving kindness to us and to others, hopefully, we began learning how to respond on our own and how to accompany and be accompanied by others, including fellow parishioners who, like us, seek to live lives of “committed love reflecting the love that God has for each of us.”

If you have not yet found your vocation, take time every day to ask God what he wants you to do with your life, and listen for his response in the stillness of your heart and in the people and events of your everyday life. If you are already living your vocation, be a good example of that vocation, share the challenges and the blessings of your vocation with others, and continue to pray for those still discerning God’s will.
