“You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.” Our Lady to Blessed Alan de la Roche

The Rosary Society formally began at St. Michael’s Parish in October of 1941 and has continued to be a very active ministry. United in prayer and devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary, and with her as their example, the women of the Rosary Society are pledged to serve the Altar of the Church. Msgr. Shugrue is the group's spiritual advisor and they are grateful for his caring support and guidance.

The Rosarians are supportive of St. Michael’s Parish both financially and through volunteer activities, such as:

  • Actively participating in Respect Life, Church Women United and other civic concerns.
  • Attending monthly meetings held on the first Monday after the first Sunday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. Meetings provide opportunities to socialize, pray to Our Blessed Mother and enjoy programs featuring guest speakers.
  • Attending the first Sunday of the month Masses for the living and deceased members of the Rosary Society.

Communion Breakfast

Commemorating over 80 years, the Rosary Society recently celebrated its Communion breakfast. We are grateful to Msgr. Shugrue for his inspirational words as our guest speaker and, as always, for his steadfast guidance.

Many Rosarians and guests participated in the Mass and luncheon reception held in the Sarah Black Room.  The event was filled with many cherished memories of the past 81 years.  It was a time to reconnect with past presidents, former members and many friends who returned to Cranford for the celebration.

What a blessing towelcome newly installed Rosarians: Carol Bayak, Ann Brennan, Denise Garabet, Louise Raybold, Dorothy Baylock, Elisa Fitzmaurice, Diane Jacques, Kathy O'Connell (all pictured left) as well as Janet Storti, Clare Slattery, Beth Anne Muller and Maureen Scorese (not in photo).

Retreat 2023

This spring we visited San Alfonso Retreat house in Long Branch for a day of prayer and reflection. The shore is such a beautiful and peaceful setting to connect with the Lord and each other. We had a lovely day together.

Installation Dinner

In June, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Venue 104 in Cranford to celebrate a wonderful year and welcome our newly-installed members. It is truly a gift to be able to celebrate together. Everyone had a lovely evening and we are already looking forward to next year. Thank you, Fr. Tim, for joining us.

May Crowning

The pinnacle annual event for the Rosary Society is the May Crowning of Our Lady to signify her as Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God. This year’s devotion was a beautiful event for the Parish and ended with fellowship and refreshments.

Palm Sunday Babka Sale

A furry visitor delighted us at our Palm Sunday Babka Sale. This tradition bring us such joy as we greet Parishioners and friends.

Advent Rosary Service

The Cranford High School Madrigals blessed us with their angelic voices at our Advent Rosary Service in December. We are grateful they shared their gifts from God with us to make our Rosary event extra special. Their voices lifted our prayers and filled our hearts.

Rosary Rally

In the fall, we gathered at Roosevelt Park for the annual Rosary Rally. Sponsored by America Needs Fatima, it was one of over 20,000 rallies held across the United Sates on the day to join us in prayer for our Nation. Join us next year for this beautiful event Honoring Our Lady and her impact on our nation.

Living Rosary

The Rosary Society partnered with youth in Religious Education to celebrate Our Lady in a special way. We created a “Living Rosary.” Each bead was represented with a candle. As we prayed, the church lit up with the light of Christ.

The picture doesn’t do enough to convey the beauty of the evening. We love teaming up with other ministries to share our faith.

Working together

We are grateful to our brothers in the Cranford Knights of Columbus for their support of our mission.

Here Grand Knight, Gerry Conheeney, presents funds to Rosary Society President, Barbara Rivera. The Knights are helping to fund the transportation for the Society’s upcoming Day of Reflection at the Shore. God bless them and their generostiy.

Thank you Knights!
