During these uncertain times the St Michael’s Ministry of Motherhood has decided to continue to accept new members but to suspend our membership fee.  Also during these times, many of our offerings are to be determined.  Please see parish emails and Facebook postings for future updates.

Open to all women of the parish, we are a Catholic community of mothers who gather together in Christ’s presence to devote ourselves to faith development, service, social enrichment & family celebrations.

Faith Development

• Spiritual Offerings – one day and mini week end sessions are offered throughout the year, especially during Advent & Lent.  These offerings provide presentations, speakers and group discussion on various topics.  Prayer is an integral part of each of these meetings.

Service to the Parish

• MOM members help staff the St. Michael Feast.
• MOM members organize and run the parish Advent Celebration.  This event usually occurs on the first Sunday in Advent after the noon mass. It offers families the opportunity to gather, purchase and assemble a new wreath or decorate a treasured Advent Wreath.  At this event the wreaths are blessed by one of our parish priests. There are fun activities offered for the younger children and each family gets to share in a light lunch.
• MOM members help support with donations and staffing, Family Promise when St. Michael”s is their host.

Service to the Community (MICA – mothers in Christian action)

• • Annual Giving tree event collection of Christmas presents for Rafael’s Life House and other organizations.
  • Annual MOMs Helping Moms is a gathering for Mother’s Day at which collections are sorted & bagged for single moms in need.
  • MOMs help to collect, assemble, sort and deliver boxes for Operation Christmas Child each year.
  • MOMs regularly start, share and donate to Community Meal Trains.
  • MOMs staff and facilitate a monthly sandwich/food collection.  Families, as well as those youngsters looking to earn service hours, are welcome to donate non-perishable goods or pre-made sandwiches which in turn are donated to St. Joseph’s Social Services in Elizabeth.

• Anniversary Mass

And . . .
All sorts of other fun things throughout the year.  Some examples: wine tasting at Dreyer Farms, Appetizers & Cocktails with the Nearly New Yorkers, paint & pour, stained glass making, and ceramics.
