Celebrating a Marriage Anniversary with a Marriage Blessing

Parishioners Hugh and Kathy Welsh were planning to stand together before God on their 50th Wedding Anniversary as they did on their Wedding Day.  So they joined the people who came to St. Michael’s for the Noon Mass on that day a few weeks ago.  Fr. Tim learned they were planning this and, while he couldn’t be there, he arranged for Fr. Alex Pinto to give them an after-Mass Marriage Blessing.  It was a pleasant surprise, not only for them, but also for the Noon Mass attendees who were honored to help the couple celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary.

According to Hugh, their marriage has been “an adventure that we undertook together and — with a lot of God’s help — so far it has been fun, exciting, challenging and wonderful!”

Please join us in wishing Hugh and Kathy many more years of wedded bliss.  If you see them in Church or around town, add your own good wishes.

 Requesting a Marriage Blessing

If you have a special occasion or anniversary to celebrate, our Priests are happy to give you a Blessing.  Most Blessings take place in the Church and after Mass. Simply contact the Parish Center to arrange for the Blessing.  And, of course, if, at any time, you feel the need for a special blessing, please call and ask for a priest who will arrange for a private blessing.

Blessings are also offered every spring at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark. Our Parish bulletin offers the details, so keep an eye out for the next one.
