MISMATCH, OR INVITATION TO PERSONAL CONVERSION?

“Three times I begged the Lord about this thorn, that it might leave me,
but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is made perfect in weakness.’
I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses,
in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.
Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults,
hardships, persecutions, and constraints,
for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-10

All three Readings reveal a mismatch: the prophet and the stiff-necked people; Paul encountering a weakness that, to his way of seeing, deters the effectiveness of his ministry; and, in the Gospel, Jesus and the hometown people who take offense at him. And in all three instances, God’s reply, or lack thereof, is “Let it be.”

Perhaps God wants us to focus on changing our perspective, which may be what is really “in the way”?

God’s ways are not our ways.

Please take time to view this 37-minute The Joy of Love and Family Video on Single Life by Katrina Zeno. And treat yourself to giving the other The Joy of Love and Family videos a chance to point out some other mismatches in current ways of seeing God’s loving hand guiding us through our lives.  The four June talks and the three July talks of this conference series are online for viewing.
